A mild heatwave is currently sweeping over Sirajganj and some parts of Khulna division, with a chance of spreading further, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department today.

In its weather bulletin at 9:00am today, the BMD said that the day temperature is likely to rise by 1–2 degree Celsius.

The weather forecast mentioned that parts of the Sylhet division may experience temporary gusty winds, lightning, and scattered thundershowers today.

On the other hand, the rest of the country is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies.

While talking to The Daily Star, Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said, "The heatwave in Dhaka is expected to intensify over the next three days. There is also a chance of some rainfall on May 12."

She added, "Starting from tomorrow, the temperature will rise across the country and continue for three days. However, on May 11, there is a possibility of rainfall in the country and a drop in temperature in various regions."

From May 11 onward, rain and thunderstorms are expected in several divisions including Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Chattogram, with temperatures likely to drop slightly.

Additionally, dry weather is expected tomorrow and Saturday.
