Tetulia records country’s lowest temperature today at 10.5°C
The northern districts, particularly Panchagarh, are experiencing biting cold as temperatures have hovered between 10.3°C and 13.4°C over the past six days.
The lowest temperature in the country today was recorded at 10.5°C in Tetulia during last 24 hours till 9:00am, according to Jitendra Nath, assistant officer at the Tetulia Weather Observatory Centre. This follows yesterday's record low of 10.3°C.
"The cold wind from the Himalayan side is sweeping through the northern region due to the clear skies, amplifying the winter chill," Jitendra said.
Temperature trends from the past week in Tetulia show readings of 11.3°C on Friday, 12.1°C on Thursday, 13.4°C on Wednesday, and 13.3°C on Tuesday. Despite the cold, the region saw a high of 28.9°C yesterday.
Locals and visitors are enjoying the weather during the day, as clear skies allow for bright sunshine. The famous Kanchanjangha mountain range has been visible on the northern horizon for the third consecutive day, delighting tourists.
Day labourers, rickshaw-pullers, and other daily earners said they can continue their work comfortably during the day because of the warm sunshine. However, the cold intensifies significantly after sunset as icy winds sweep through the area.
The weather is expected to remain similar for the next few days, according to the Tetulia Weather Observatory.
