The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) recorded Dhaka's minimum temperature at 14.5 degrees celsius this morning.

BMD Meteorologist Md Bazlur Rashid described this as "reasonably cold," though daytime temperatures of 27–28 degrees celsius, coupled with bright sunlight and minimal fog, make the chill less noticeable in Dhaka.

With a gradual drop in minimum temperature, Dhaka's residents may have to wait a couple more weeks to experience the true feel of winter, despite signs of its approach.

Urbanisation and industrialisation contribute to Dhaka's temperatures being 2–3 degrees celsius higher than surrounding areas, the meteorologist said.

He added that residents are likely to feel colder after December 20, as temperatures are expected to dip further.

Across the country, temperatures may rise slightly from Tuesday and persist for two to three days before dropping again.

Bazlur noted that winter has arrived earlier this year compared to last year, particularly in northern districts. A cold wave is expected to sweep parts of the northern and northwestern regions next week.

The country's lowest temperature today was recorded at 10.6 degrees Celsius in Badalgachhi, according to the BMD's morning bulletin.

It forecasted moderate to thick fog in the northern region and light to moderate fog elsewhere during the late night and early morning hours over the next 24 hours.

The bulletin also predicted dry weather with a partly cloudy sky, while night and day temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

In Dhaka, the wind is expected to blow from the north-northwest at speeds of 5–10 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure system has formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal.
