Poachers poison 300 ducks in Moulvibazar
About 300 ducks have died in poison traps set for migratory birds in Moulvibazar's Barlekha.
Somsu Mia, owner of the duck farm, filed a case with Barlekha Police Station this afternoon accusing Dudoi Mia, Mona Mia, Anwar Hossain and Salik Mia, our local correspondent reports.
Local bird poachers become active during winter as migratory birds start coming to the haor areas during this time of the year, Somsu told The Daily Star.
"My 300 ducks died after taking poisoned food at a nearby field," he said, accusing that Dudoi Mia had set the bird traps to catch migratory birds in the field.
Dudoi Mia said locals were falsely blaming him and that he is trying to settle the issue.
Officer-in-Charge of Barlekha Police Station Yasinul Haque said they are trying to arrest culprits.
