Family abandons woman with flu-like symptoms in Tangail forest
A woman suspected to be showing symptoms of coronavirus was left behind in a forest in Tangail's Shakhipur upazila allegedly by her family members yesterday evening.
Local administration rescued her this morning after locals of Ichhadighi village in Gorai union heard her cries for help and informed authorities, reports our Tangail correspondent quoting Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Mannan.
The 50-year-old was sent to Dhaka and admitted to the isolation ward at Dhaka Medical College Hospital this morning, said Shakhipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Asmaul Husna Liza.
The woman said her family left her in the forest around 8:00pm yesterday, but they assured her they would come back for her.
When they did not return, she cried for help, which led to the eventual rescue. The UNO went to the spot as well to rescue the woman and said she was suffering from fever, breathing problems and sore throat.
The woman did not know her address, neither could she say where her family was.
Local administration is looking for the family.
