First coronavirus case confirmed in Narsingdi
A 34-year-old has tested positive for coronavirus in Palash upazila of Narsingdi, the first confirmed case in the district.
The infected person works as a supervisor at a textile mill in Narayanganj, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting Civil Surgeon of Narsingdi Dr Mohammad Ibrahim.
Local administration has locked down Danga Islampara area where the coronavirus patient resides, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Imrul Kayes, also the district head of the cell formed to combat coronavirus.
As the man was suffering from flu-like symptoms, he went to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka and gave samples for coronavirus test yesterday morning.
IEDCR confirmed that he was infected with coronavirus at night, Imrul Kayes said.
Now he has been kept under isolation at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and is doing well, he added.
Narayanganj is at high risk of coronavirus transmission as IEDRC confirmed 15 cases in the district in the last 24 hours.
