Star website faces rising cyber attacks
Several hacking attempts to deface The Daily Star's website have been tracked and blocked since early February.
Statistics show that attacks on the website have increased by 50 per cent since that time.
Most of the attacks are originating in the USA and China, sources say.
“Hackers are trying to breach security walls to post garbage contents or modify stories on the website,” said The Daily Star's website security team.
The Daily Star website has been under constant attack following the newspaper's coverage of GanaJagaran Mancha, which was formed to demand highest punishment for all war criminals in 2013.
The website was hacked and defaced once during that time.
