Tigers look to seal series
After a bleak Test series, Bangladesh have a golden opportunity today to wrap up the three-match ODI series against West Indies in favourable conditions in Guyana.
The match will start at 12:30am Bangladesh time tonight.
In the first ODI on Sunday, the slow and low nature of the wicket at the Providence Stadium aided Bangladesh's spinners and was a disadvantage for the West Indies batsmen who are not known for their spin-playing proficiency. The 48-run win was a boost for Bangladesh after the 2-0 loss in the two-match Test series, which saw Bangladesh's lowest ever score of 43 all out.
With the third match due to take place in St Kitts on July 28, the Tigers will look to win the series in Guyana. St Kitts is a smaller ground and also has a batting-friendly wicket, which will be an advantage for West Indies' big hitters like Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis and Andre Russell.
But today, it will again be up to Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad and captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to utilise their understanding of the wicket and give a much-needed trophy to the nation. Tamim hit an unbeaten century and Shakib scored 97, and they also combined for Bangladesh's highest second-wicket stand of 207 before Mashrafe took four for 37 to clinch the first ODI.
The Tigers are likely to remain unchanged for the second ODI. The one change could be Liton Das coming in for opener Anamul Haque, who was out for a duck on Sunday.
