Man held with 3.7kg of gold bars at Dhaka airport
Customs officials detained a man and seized around 3.7 kilograms of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning.
Detainee Almas Ali carried the 32 gold bars from Dubai by hiding those inside two mixer machines, said Sulaiman Hossain, assistant commissioner (B-shift) of customs.
On information, the officials intercepted him at the green channel around 8:45am after he landed at the airport on a BG-148 flight. They scanned his luggage and found the gold bars hidden inside the mixer machines, he added.
The value of the gold is around Tk 2.22crore, the official said.
Legal action against him is underway.
