Gynaecologist dies of Covid-19 in Ctg

Gynaecologist Dr Irin Jaman of Chattogram Ma O Shishu Hospital died of coronavirus while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

She was declared dead at 1:40pm, said Dr Ranjan Kumar Nath, chief of the hospital's ICU.

Dr Irin was admitted at the hospital Saturday night. She was doing well, but her condition deteriorated in the morning, he said. 

Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, joint secretary of the Foundation for Doctors' Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR), said Dr Irin was wife of Dr Muizzul Akbar Chowdhury, organising secretary of Bangladesh Medical Association, Chattogram chapter. 

She was a 14th batch student of Cumilla Medical College, he said.

With her, 64 doctors have died from Covid-19 so far while 10 others passed away with coronavirus-like symptoms.
