China returnees’ quarantine ends
The 14-day quarantine for the 312 Wuhan-returnee Bangladeshis at Ashkona Hajj Camp ends today.
They will be released tonight after a final screening which will begin around 5pm, said ASM Alamgir, principal scientific officer of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
The final screening of all 312 people is likely to continue till 10pm, the official said adding, after that they will be free to go.
"But those whose homes are far and want to stay the night will be provided accommodation," he said.
The screening will be conducted at four desks set up at the camp and after completion of the process, they will be given a health certificate, he also said.
Meanwhile during a press briefing at IEDCR office around 12pm, Director of IEDCR Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora said that a total of 62 samples collected from patients all over Bangladesh were tested by them.
"But none of those samples tested positive for coronavirus," she said.
