Covid shot campaign to go on at certain places
The nationwide inoculation campaign against Covid-19 will continue in areas where the targets have not been met.
Meanwhile, the health directorate reported eight deaths and 879 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am yesterday.
The positivity rate was 9.66 percent against 9,099 tests across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest count, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 reached to 29,249.
Of the yesterday's deceased, seven were male.
Yesterday's special day-long campaign to inoculate people with the second and booster doses will not end in those centers where the target remained unfulfilled, Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the Covid-19 Vaccination Taskforce, told The Daily Star yesterday evening.
On Monday, Health Minister Zahid Maleque announced the day-long campaign to inoculate 75 lakh people, aged 18 and above, to help constrict the recent spike in infection rates.
Those who received their second jabs at least four months ago received their booster dose. While those who took the first dose at least 28 days ago received their second jab.
For the campaign, 16,181 centres were operational in public hospitals, wards in city corporations and municipality areas.
A total of 33,246 health workers and 49,869 volunteers were deployed for the campaign.
