78 fined for defying Covid-19 lockdown in Narayanganj

At least 78 people were fined Tk 58,000 in Narayanganj on the fourth day of the week-long strict lockdown today on charges of defying Covid-19 restrictions and health guidelines.

Mehedi Hasan Faruque, executive magistrate and assistant commissioner of the Narayanganj district administration, confirmed the information to our local correspondent this evening.

"Seventy-eight people have been fined Tk 58,200 for violating lockdown in five upazilas of Narayanganj," said the magistrate.

He said a man went out of his home to see the lockdown while a lot of people who did not have any specific need came out of their homes and many people did not wear masks.
