Covid-19 in Pabna Mental Hospital: 12 patients, 3 doctors, 7 nurses infected

At least 12 patients with mental illnesses, three doctors and seven nurses have been infected with Covid-19 at Pabna Mental Hospital recently.
The hospital's authority, however, sent them all to their homes to be isolated for the sake of the other patients and staff members, reports our correspondent.
The authority has also made Covid-19 test mandatory for new patients being admitted to the hospital.
Earlier this month, a few admitted patients were found to have Covid-19 symptoms. They were then taken to the hospital's isolation unit.
On July 13, samples from the patients were tested, and 12 were found positive for the virus, he said.
"We sent the Covid-19 positive patients back to their homes after receiving test results," said Dr Masud, adding, "Those who tested positive for Covid-19 were admitted to Pabna Mental Hospital in June without undergoing test."
There are over 400 patients with mental illnesses undergoing treatment at Pabna Mental Hospital. Patients with Covid-19 symptoms have been separated from others for safety.
