DSCC opens control room to combat dengue
The Dhaka South City Corporation yesterday launched a dedicated central control room as part of its measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever and control the proliferation of Aedes mosquitoes.
DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh inaugurated the control room, emphasising the importance of collective efforts to combat the dengue menace in the city.
Abu Nasher, spokesperson of DSCC, said individuals are encouraged to call the hotline number +8801709900888 to report any sightings of Aedes mosquito breeding sites or larvae.
This initiative aims to foster community engagement in identifying and addressing potential mosquito breeding grounds.
The special control room activities, as outlined in the Annual Action Plan-2023 approved by Taposh, will be carried out at the Emergency Management Centre, known as Shitalakshya Hall.
Operating hours for the control room are from 9:00am to 5:00pm every day, except for Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays.
Nasher said the mayor will be present at the control room, overseeing and monitoring the Aedes mosquito control activities conducted across various wards and regions.
