Coronavirus: People below 60yrs most affected in India
A little over 82 percent of Covid-19 patients in India are below the age of 60 years, according to health ministry data.
A majority of the coronavirus positive cases (41.88 percent) covers people between the ages of 21 and 40 years while 8.61 percent of cases are between 0 and 20 years, data released on Saturday night shows.
In addition, 32.82 percent of cases relate to those between 41 and 60 years, data shows.
While senior citizens are perceived to be more vulnerable to the virus, the ministry shows that just 16.69 percent of the cases relate to persons above 60 years.
However, the ministry said most Covid-19 deaths are being reported from among the elderly or people having co-morbidities, such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney and cardiac issues.
