Indian actress Ruma Guha Thakurta passes away

Indian veteran actress and singer Ruma Guha Thakurta passed away this morning at the age of 84.

Ruma Guha, former wife of legendary singer Kishore Kumar, breathed her last at her Baliganj residence in Kolkata around 7:30am, reports our Kolkata correspondent.

She had been suffering from old age ailments, the correspondent said.

The funeral will be held in arrival of her son Amit Kumar from Mumbai today.

Born in 1934 in Kolkata, she is known for her Bangla films like Arogyaniketan, Polatak and Balika Badhu. She also played vital roles in Antony Firingee, Dadar Kirti and 36 Chowringhee Lane films.

She married to Kishore Kumar in 1951 but got divorced later.  

Ruma Guha was a founder member of Calcutta Youth Choir, a platform of Indian singers.
