Investigation on to identify masterminds behind attack on Ghoraghat UNO: PM

Saying that perpetrators must face music, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today told Parliament that the government is thoroughly investigating to identify the masterminds behind the attack on Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Wahida Khanam.
In reply to a supplementary question from BNP MP Harunur Rashid, the premier said: "We've already identified and arrested the perpetrators. We are also looking into it to identify who else was behind it or who patronised them [attackers] to carry that out. It is being investigated thoroughly."
Sheikh Hasina, also Leader of the House, said, "There's no shortcoming in the investigation process."
"The culprits will be punished for sure. I can say that we'll ensure it," she added.
Wahida Khanam, UNO of Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur, and her father were injured when they came under attack at her official residence on September 2.
"Those who commit crimes and those who protect the criminals are equally guilty," the PM said.
She said the government made all arrangements for the UNO's medical treatment -- airlifting her to Dhaka immediately after the incident.
Hasina said, "I see a culprit as culprit. I don't consider what party he or she belongs to or who they are. I won't spare them even if they belong to my party."
