JCD calls hartal in Ctg for tomorrow
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal (shutdown) in Chittagong city for tomorrow protesting arrest of its acting president.
Bazlur Rahman, acting president of JCD, the student wing of main opposition BNP, was arrested at Hatirpool in the capital yesterday afternoon.
The shutdown was called protesting the arrest of Rahman and filing of what it claimed ‘false’ cases against several presidium members of the organisation.
SM Salauddin, central joint secretary of the JCD, made the announcement from a pro-blockade rally organised in front of BNP’s port city headquarters.
The BNP-led 18-party opposition combine has already enforced an 83-hour countrywide blockade of roads, rail and waterways from 6:00am Saturday.
