EC fails to prove it as neutral body till the date: 20-party alliance
BNP-led 20-party alliance coordinator Col (retd) Oli Ahmed today said that the Election Commission (EC) has failed to prove it as a neutral body till the date.
“The Election Commission does not seem neutral to us till today,” Oli Ahmed, also chairman of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), told reporters after a meeting with the EC this evening.
About the partisan officials, he said the 20-party alliance requested the commission to keep them away from the election duties.
Claiming that many government officials have already built up good relations with ministers and lawmakers, Oli Ahmed said he asked the constitutional body to transfer them from one district to another for the sake of a free and fair election.
He said the spree of lodging fictitious cases against the alliance leaders and supporters continuing across the country.
“We have asked the commission to suspend cases until December 30,” he told the reporters.
Earlier in the day, a delegation led by Oli Ahmed held a meeting with Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam and talked over different issues so that the upcoming general election is held in a free, fair and credible manner.
