Former AL leader AMSA Amin joins Gonoforum

Former Kurigram Awami League leader Maj Gen (retd) AMSA Amin joined Dr Kamal Hossain-led Gonoforum yesterday, ahead of the 11th parliamentary election.

He joined the party, a key component of Jatiya Oikyafront, at a programme at Dr Kamal Hossain's Motijheel chamber around 1:00pm.

Dr Kamal Hossain welcomed Amin, Gonoforum's media wing member Latiful Bari Hamim told UNB.

Senior leaders of the party, including its executive president Subrata Chowdhury and general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu, and Jatiya Oikya Prokriya leader Sultan Mohammad Mansur were present, among others.

Amin, a former ambassador, was also Kurigram district unit president of AL. He contested the 2001 election with Awami League's nomination from Kurigram-2 constituency, but did not come out successful.

On November 19, ten retired defence officers formally joined Gonoforum.

Earlier, Reza Kibria, son of slain former Awami League Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria, joined the party and submitted its nomination paper to Dr Kamal to contest the December 30 parliamentary polls under Jatiya Oikyafront from Habiganj-1 constituency.
