Take steps to remove all campaign materials by Nov 18: EC
The Election Commission today asked the assistant returning officers (AROs) to take necessary steps to remove all kinds of campaign materials including posters and banners by November 18.
If the election campaign materials are not removed by the deadline, the assistant returning officers will have to take the responsibility, said EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed.
Helal Uddin gave the directives during a day-long briefing with the assistant returning officers of Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions at Dhaka’s Nirbachan Bhaban today.
On November 9, the EC asked all political parties and lawmaker hopefuls to remove their posters, banners and all kinds of campaign materials by November 14 at their own initiative.
On November 14, with elections ahead, the Election Commission has extended for three days its deadline to pull down publicity materials like banners and posters.
All political parties, their leaders and candidate hopefuls now have until November 17 to remove their posters, banners and other publicity materials.
WHEN IS THE ELECTION?
Election Commission has revised polls schedule, deferring the 11th general election by a week to December 30 – a decision taken on November 12.
The authorities have fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9 last date of withdrawal.
The move came following demands from several opposition political parties.
