Self-reliability is one of the best feelings one can experience. Though people in most countries learn to live on their own earlier on in their lives, it is kind of hard to be self-dependent and continue one's education in a developing country like ours. But this scenario is changing rapidly. More and more people are now getting part time jobs, while studying, to support themselves and sometimes even their families. Staying true to the saying, “There is no such thing as a small job”, Mahmuda  Akhtar Snigdha set an example of how anyone can continue their education and be self-dependent at the same time, by waitressing.

While obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Lalmatia Mahila College, Snigdha has been working in the popular food joint, Nando's, for over a year now. “I mainly took this job to know what freedom tastes like, and so far I think it is one of the best decisions I've made”.  Not only does she support herself but she sometimes even helps with family expenses. “My family is who encouraged me to be self dependent. They support me and understand that I have to be away from the house for a very long time. I am very lucky in this case,” says Snigdha.
But it's not always milk and honey for Snigdha. It takes a lot of effort to maintain educational and working lives simultaneously and it has its drawbacks. “My college starts from 8:00 AM and ends at 12:00 PM and my shift at Nando's starts from 12:30 PM and ends at 7:00 PM. I don't have much time for a social life. But it is not something I regret because what I got instead is much more precious to me. I love my busy life,” says Snigdha.
After her completing her Bachelor's, Snigdha wants to join evening MBA classes. Her goal is to work in a reputed bank in the near future.
