7-day restrictions: Chief Justice decides to run court functions on limited scale

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain yesterday decided to run court functions on a limited scale from today to April 11, during the government's seven-day restrictions to curb the recent spike in Covid-19 cases and deaths.

The Supreme Court administration issued three separate notifications on Sunday night to this effect.

According to a notification, the chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will hear and dispose of urgent cases on Tuesday and Thursday.

Four High Court benches out of a total 52 will perform judicial functions using information technology to deal with urgent writ, civil, criminal, company and admiralty-related petitions during this period, another notification said.

Besides, a magistrate will deal with cases in every district strictly following health safety guidelines.

The interim orders of bail will continue for next two weeks, according to third notification.
