Supreme Court Bar Association election resumes for 2nd day

Voting in the annual election to the 14-member executive committee of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) rolled into second day today.

Voting resumed at 10:15am and will continue till 5:15pm at SCBA auditorium in Dhaka, Md Rabiul Hasan, administrative officer of SCBA, told The Daily Star.

The result of the election is likely to be announced tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Some 2,823 lawyers, out of total 7,719, cast their votes on the first day of the two-day annual election yesterday (Wednesday).

SCBA sources said the main contest would be between panels of Awami League-backed Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad and pro-BNP Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel.

Former law minister and Awami League MP Abdul Matin Khasru, and former BNP lawmaker Md Fazlur Rahman have been nominated for the post of president from Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad and Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel respectively.
