BAIUST holds National Law Olympiad

The BAIUST National Law Olympiad 2025 was held on 13 May at the Department of Law, BAIUST, bringing together law students from across Bangladesh for an entire day of legal excellence and competition. The event was inaugurated by Brigadier General Mohammad Nur Hossain, BSP, psc, Vice Chancellor of BAIUST, in the presence of Lt. Col Khandoker Mahmud Hossain (Retd.), Registrar, and Professor Dr. K Ahmed Alam, Dean, Faculty of Science & Humanities, alongside the faculty members, participants, and observers from various universities.
Structured into three main segments— Legal Quiz, Case Analysis, and Conference & Seminar —the Olympiad focused on contemporary legal issues such as sustainability, justice and human rights, and AI and digital security. A total of 90 students participated in the quiz segment, with the top 20 advancing to a buzzer round. The Case Analysis featured 18 teams from 10 different public and private universities, engaging in three rounds of oral arguments judged by distinguished professionals, including judges, senior advocates, and academics. The conference welcomed 17 research paper presenters across three thematic panels, featuring adjudicators from renowned institutions such as the Dhaka University, Macquarie University (Australia), Comilla University, Feni University, CCN Trust University of Science and Technology, Cumilla, and BAIUST.
In the Legal Quiz, the Champion Trophy was earned by Ruhum Amin, a Student of BAIUST. The Green University team, consisting of Syed Md. Alamgir Hussain and Al Nahian Bin Ratan received the Runner Up trophy and the Team of BAIUST, consisting of students Arif Billah Md. Shahed Anwar and Masuma Jahan earned the Champions Trophy. The Best Reviewer Award for the Case Analysis was Awarded to Istiak Ahmed Efat and Foysol Mahmud from Jagannath University and the Best Advocate Award was given to Fazle Rabbi Sadin from BAIUST. The Best Paper Award from Panel 1 was awarded to Md. Al Amin Pial from Britannia University and the Best Presenter award of the Conference was given to Kowshik Shahriar from North South University.
The award ceremony was graced by eminent guests Professor Dr. Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Dhaka, and Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, Vice Chancellor, Islamic University, Kushtia, Brigadier General Mohammad Nur Hossain, BSP, psc, Vice Chancellor of BAIUST, Lt. Col Khandoker Mahmud Hossain (Retd.), Registrar, and Professor Dr. K Ahmed Alam, Dean, Faculty of Science & Humanities. Convenor Nadia Islam Nody welcomed all attendees, and the Head of Department, Dr. Md. Nayem Alimul Hyder, expressed gratitude to the participants in the closing remarks. The award-giving ceremony was anchored by co-convenor Lamia Dilshad Waziha.
