Book Launching Ceremony on Criminology and Criminal Justice in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Institute of Crime and Justice Studies (BICJS) organised a book launching ceremony by unwrapping the book titled 'Criminology and Criminal Justice in Bangladesh: An Introduction' on 13 January 2025. The lead editor Dr. Mokerrom Hossain, Professor, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia, USA and among the contributors Md. Tajul Islam, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Afia Khanom, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Alhaj Mokbul Hossain University College, Dhaka were present in the event, among others.
The book provides comprehensive analysis of different aspects of the functioning of the criminal justice system in Bangladesh along with an examination of the causal factors behind the rising trends of crimes. The book examines the criminological explanations of crime and criminality. The chapters of the book discuss conceptual, theoretical, and empirical aspects of crime, policing, corrections, and courts, particularly focusing on Bangladesh.
Internationally acclaimed criminologist Professor Dr. Mokerrom Hossain, Professor Dr. Mohammad Bin Kashem and Associate Professor Dr. Mohammed Azizur Rahman are the editors of this book, and the contributors are either criminal justice academics or practitioners. The book will benefit students, researchers, and practitioners to understand criminology and criminal justice in Bangladesh.
