Lawmaker among 51 Covid-19 positive in Jamalpur

Awami League lawmaker Faridul Haque Khan Dulal from Jamalpur-2 constituency is among 51 who tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the district.

The AL lawmaker has been placed in home isolation at his Islampur house with mild infection and is now doing well, our correspondent reports quoting Jamalpur Civil Surgeon Pronoy Kanti Das. 

Ibnul Abedin, executive magistrate of the district; two vice chairmen of Islampur upazila; two health workers of the upazila health complex; a police constable of Sadar Police Station also tested positive for Covid-19 and were placed in home isolation, he said.

The rest of the infected were shifted to the isolation centre at Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur town, PronoyKanti said.

Samples of all were tested at the PCR lab of Microbiology department of Mymensingh Medical College and found positive for the virus, he further said.

With them, the total number of coronavirus cases in the district now stands at 304, the civil surgeon said.

Around 132 patients have so far recovered while four people died in the district, added the civil surgeon.
