For the love of Bengali food!
As MasterChef Australia Season 13 came to a terrific end, Kishwar bagged the third position in the season finale. However, this title is just one part of her tremendous achievements that she has attained through this global competition. Being a Bangladeshi rooted "home cook," she won the hearts of millions in the Bengali diaspora.
Throughout the show, Kishwar represented our simple cuisine with pride and finesse, bringing the much required attention that Bengali food truly deserves. From the bustling streets of Dhaka scattered with bhorta sellers through to the Rangamati Hill Tracts via a mouth-watering barramundi curry. From showing the audience how much we love a good plate of khichuri as a homely meal to taking them back in time to the Mughal period with her goat nihari — Kishwar's journey on this platform was nothing short of a celebration of Bengali cuisine.
For all the Bangladeshi home cooks, she is an icon, a source of inspiration and joy. She has made us realise that the ordinary food we put up every day on the table is worthy of immense appreciation and acceptance on a global platform.
