Coke Studio Bangla Season 2: Expectations and the start

After a memorable run last year, Coke Studio Bangla is once again back for its second season. The premier track was released on 14 February with a song called 'Murir Tin' and if the first piece is anything to set a standard, we can expect Season 2 to be explosive.

Murir Tin

The first song of this season is a unique composition that is equally catchy and dare I say, a bold fusion of colloquial speech and accents in a song. The track features the local languages of Chattogram, Sylhet, and Khulna. There is something unique about the local languages and this song not only represents that but owns it in a unique fashion. The hosting vocal blending with the rap was done so well that it sticks in the back of your mind.

Releasing such a song in the month of February, the month of language, is the perfect way to pay tribute to one's mother tongue — whatever that may be.

What to expect in Season Two?

Coke Studio Bangla has made a point out of fusing different genres of music. If you remember Season One then you probably remember great fusions like 'Nasek Nasek', 'Bhober Pagol' or 'Chiltey Roud'. Rising artists like Boga Taleb were also getting the spotlight that they deserve.

This Season, the fusion and the experiment will continue. Emerging artists are expected to add their unique touch to the tracks. Tunes rooted in cultural legacy are set to be explored from a new perspective with twists that people have come to expect from Coke Studio. What's more exciting is that a number of artists will make their Coke Studio Bangla debut and young artists usually pack a surprising punch that audiences have grown to love.

Artists Assemble

Picking up from where he left off in Season One, Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, will be producing the music. Amongst others, producers like Pritom Hasan, Fuad Almuqtadir, Emon Chowdhury, and Shuvo will be part of the team.

"We have Bangladeshi musicians from other countries with music from around the world while keeping the same spirit as last time", Shayan Chowdhury Arnob had said in an earlier interview.

Season Two will feature more than 20 artists from across Bangladesh (and other countries) who will be coming together to create 10 memorable tracks with soulful musical fusions. Amongst them will be legendary artists like Runa Laila, Indian classical musician Ustad Rashid Khan, and hold on to your seats because we are also expecting James.

With a list of names that features artists of such calibre and a promise of experimentation and dynamic performance, audiences are expecting something magical. No wonder Coke Studio calls it #RealMagic.

On top of that, music streaming platform Spotify has partnered up with Coke Studio Bangla, allowing fans to be able to stream the Bangla rendition of Coke Studio on the app.

I cannot wait to experience the musical bliss, can you?
