Kanye West’s top outbursts
Kanye West has been around the music block for decades, creating musical masterpieces for several generations. From being musically gifted to being one of the most sought-after designers in his own right, Kanye has raved the world over many times. That being said, the rapper has made the headlines uncountable times due to his public outbursts compared to his music.
The 24-time Grammy winner is no stranger to squabbles. Picking fights with celebrities to expressing his controversial ideas on social platforms. Here are his top outbursts that made the headlines.
Hurricane Katrina
Celebrities flocked to help in every way they could in the weeks following Hurricane Katrina's devastation in 2005. West, who co-hosted NBC's A Concert for Hurricane Relief with Mike Myers, chose to go off script and assert that "George Bush doesn't care about black people."
Sore Loser
West felt like he was on a roll in 2006, so when he lost Best Video to Justice and Simian's "We Are Your Friends" at the MTV Europe Music Awards in November 2006, he couldn't disguise his disappointment, coming onstage to rage about his defeat.
Kanye's Kicks
In January 2009, West triumphantly revealed his high-top sneakers in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, and he was so proud of his achievement that he invited supporters and opponents to address him as "Martin Louis the King, Jr" going forward.
I'mma Let You Finish...
West made a big impression at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards — in a category for which he wasn't even nominated. When Taylor Swift took the stage to accept the award for Best Female Video, West was quick to follow, taking the statuette from Swift and famously exclaiming, "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"
Love for Trump
West returned to Twitter in April 2018 and began blogging about his support for President Donald Trump shortly after. "You don't have to agree with Trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother," the rapper wrote. "I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought." Trump thanked West for his remarks shortly after.
Presidential Podium
In July 2020, West spoke at his first presidential campaign event in South Carolina and talked about how he and Kim almost terminated their first child. "We discussed her decision not to have this child. He remembered that she held the pills in her palm. "I contacted my wife, and she informed me that we were going to have a kid. We're going to have this child, I declared.
Before ranting about his "genius" IQ, he added that Harriet Tubman "never actually freed" the numerous slaves she transported via the Underground Railroad. It doesn't matter to West whether he is elected president, he said at the gathering, adding, "I care that there are homeless people in front of the Gucci store."
Anti-Semitic Remarks
Recently, Adidas, the renowned clothing brand, has severed its relationship with the musician Ye, also known as Kanye West, stating that it "does not condone antisemitism and any other type of hate speech." Following West's display of a "White Lives Matter" T-shirt design at Paris Fashion Week, Adidas' Yeezy brand partnership with him was put under investigation. Days later, the rapper made anti-Semitic remarks on his Twitter page, which forced Adidas to immediately remove his merchandise for sale. The sportswear company has previously stated that its partnership with Ye for the Yeezy brand was one of its most successful ventures.
