Hajj is a powerful manifestation of gratitude, unity, and submission to the divine. This journey holds immense significance in the hearts of Muslims as they strive to fulfil one of the five pillars of Islam. If you are about to set off for hajj, you have surely prepared yourself for all the major parts of it. Additionally, here are some factors to keep in check so you have a smooth and blessed journey ahead —

Incomplete packing

Saudi Arabia is approximately 95 per cent desert. So, while the temperature during the day can be extremely hot, it is not unusual for it to drop by several degrees at night. Do not skip packing some warm clothes.

Packing light is something that must be kept in mind. However, you have to make sure not to leave out essentials like some basic medicines, pain relief spray, and bandages. Making a list of all the things you may need and then narrowing it down from there is an effective way to ensure you are packed right for Hajj.

Avoiding water

A lot of us tend to do this whenever we are on a journey, mainly because not all places have good washrooms. However, Hajj is just as physically demanding as it is spiritually uplifting, and it will require a lot of walking. Lack of water in this heat can lead to dehydration, making it increasingly difficult for you to keep going. So, it is crucial to keep yourself adequately hydrated at all times. 

Heavy snacking

It is only natural that hunger will bother you every now and then. Although there will be a variety of food available for pilgrims, it is better to avoid heavy snacks other than the main meal times.

Restaurant food especially fried and grilled ones are a big no for daytime snacking when the heat is already weighing you down. Fried food can cause acidity and post-meal sleepiness which in turn will make it difficult to perform Hajj duties with full concentration.

Dates, nuts, and dry fruits are much healthier alternatives as they will give you the energy you need without making you feel too full. 

Restlessness

In many parts of performing Hajj you will find yourself in extremely crowded situations. And just as steering through any crowd, it will take a toll on you.

When faced with these situations, you must be patient and try to not rush. Pushing can lead to an unfortunate accident for you or a fellow pilgrim. Remember, your struggles will be rewarded by Allah as will your prayers. It is indeed a sign of humility, both in religious and social aspects, to be mindful of those around us.
