Yes, we are talking about all of you, who are in love with fusion wear and the new fashion trend that goes by the name of shirt dresses.

Sure, Christian Dior first popularised the shirt dress, but it only became super trendy after the dawn of the new millennium. Not a fan? Well, stop trying, because after reading this you would naturally become one.

After World War II was over, reputed fashion houses introduced the 'new look' as a part of their couture. This was in the '50s when women were slowly getting involved in the corporate world, shying away from their stereotyped role of homemakers. 

It was an era where fashion designers wanted to prove that women and men were equal in all aspects of life. "If women can do anything a man can do, they can also wear whatever the men dress themselves in — only better"— and so began the revolutionising era by vintage couturiers like Dior, Valentino, etc.

How did it become trendy in Bangladesh after so many years – you ask? Well, it is because of our 'all the rage' inclination towards fusion wear. A shirt dress is very similar to a kameez or a kurti, only it is more 'in vogue' and 'comfortable' to wear — especially to work.

A shirt dress is usually meant to be worn without pants, but that is surely not a viable option in our conservative society. Alternatively we can easily pair the shirt dresses with a decent pair of jeggings, leggings, stockings or even thigh high suede boots.

Shirt dresses are also very comfortable. They usually come in light pastel colours or deep hued solid colours, but there are funky variations to even the shirt dresses, like the chic checks, hyped florals and jazzy patterns — nothing complicated, nothing glitzy — just free, frank and fun! 

For once it brings out the informal girl in you; the bohemian spirit that loves to travel, paint, shop, read, and hang out with friends. 

Imagine yourself in a shirt dress, chequered leggings, statement scarves, retro shades and comfy slippers.  Could there be any better combination for style and comfort? Well, I don't think so and I know somewhere down there you don't either.

Step 1: 

Go to the men's section in a store and buy an oversized shirt! 

Step 2: 

Pair it with a belt or tie a colourful ribbon around the waist

Step 3: 

Wear a plain coloured leggings or a chequered one, depending on your preference

Step 4: 

Pair it with comfort shoes or statement shoes or even combat boot! Trust me everything goes well with this look
