The layering game
Cold winds clanging the wind chime, windows kept shut since sunset while the ceiling fans hang silently over us. Even the slightest creak of a door two storeys above can be heard. If you were waiting for a white dove to announce the coming of winter, you surely missed the event already.
Winter is finally here and it is poised to take you unprepared as you are yet to go on your annual winter shopping spree. You are stuck on a heap of rocks, surrounded by a frosted lake and the winds of winter glaring at you. What do you do now?
Well then, you have nothing to fear because your everyday buddies – shirts – are here to save the day until you finally get your hands on some of the newest winter collections.
Wearing a patterned shirt on top of a plain shirt is one way of making sure that you are bombarded with compliments. Patterns like stripes, checks, camos and even florals can be a stylish pick. What you need to make sure is that the t-shirt you are wearing is plain as anything, other than that will clash with your shirt and bring all the attention on to your t-shirt (which is clearly what you do not want to do!).
Layering a plain shirt over a plain t-shirt is a rather minimalistic approach. One way to spice up your look is by incorporating patterns on your t-shirt as it will make your look pop and speak volumes about your sense of style.
While you are at it, donot forget to play around with shirts of various materials as it will add dimension to your look. For instance, if you are wearing a t-shirt made from a heavy fabric, wearing a lightweight shirt on top would be a wise decision; you can try the exact opposite too. The idea is to also focus on the material apart from the colour and pattern to ensure comfort and style.
Hold up! We are not quite done yet. Wondering how you should match the colours of your layered outfit? Quite simple. Pick colours from the colour wheel such that they lie opposite to each other. That way, you can come up with the most stylish outfits which will make your look stand out.
Imagine layering your outfit with shirts as casual suits. Unfortunately, it gets so hot and humid in summer that layering your outfit with shirts becomes a sweaty and sticky idea. With winter here, there could be no better time than now to up the ante on your style game.
