The dyeing dilemma
When Zayn Malik dyed his hair platinum blonde people from across the globe rushed to the nearest salon with an image of the former One Direction sensation with high hopes of transforming themselves to Zayn.
It was a hopeless dream for two obvious reasons — one, nobody's facial features are as clear-cut as Zayn's, and two, the hair colour does not by any means go with majority of peoples' complexion.
Before colouring the hair, one must take the skin colour into consideration. If you belong to the group of people with a warm complexion and decide to dye your hair yellow, all you will look like is a dark skinned Super Saiyan. We are certainly not in the world of DragonBallZ and you are surely not a Saiyan, so scratch that idea if it has ever occurred to you.
What is more important is that we tend to go to the wrong places and the wrong people. While some feel that a high-end salon is the easy way out, in reality even not all high-end salons are efficient at dyeing hair. While some hairdressers may have mastered the technique, suggesting the right hue is beyond most hairdressers.
Well, are we not all caught in a dilemma now? Where oh where should we go? Whom should we seek help from in such crucial times when all we want is to accentuate our look with the right hair colour? Here's what you should do — hop on to your car and quickly drive to Total Care (Banani) or Gentle Care (Uttara) as you keep reading this article.
These salons are the pot of gold you have been looking for at the end of the rainbow. The hairstylists there will help you look exactly like David Beckham or Chris Hemsworth or even Zayn Malik (ahem… only the hair colour though).
In conversation with Raymond, one of Total Care's skilled hairstylists, we got to know about the intricate steps and details which they follow with immense precision and finesse. In addition to the crucial methodology of dyeing one's hair there are some basic colours, which one can use as a guideline to match their complexion correctly with the colour.
For men with a dark skin tone, it is always best to go with mahogany, chocolate brown, burgundy, or warm tones of gray and white. If you have a fair skin tone, you should opt for warm colours. Brown, dark brown, salt and pepper, and plum are good choices.
Let me caution you, these are merely guidelines; for the hair colour to work, you need the panache to pull it off. The idea is to use these colours and to find the right shade.
If you want to opt for an unconventional colour and have black hair, you could try to go for a dark shade of blue. That way, your hair will look black indoors, but illuminate a very glassy shade of blue when under the sun. This is the safest colour to go for if you are new to dyeing your hair.
Dyeing men's hair is a work of art and needs perfection, or else it turns into a complete disaster. Don't believe me? Google 'Celebrity hair colours gone wrong' and you will know what I speak of. The next time you think of dyeing your hair, think of the place and stylist you go to and of course the hair colour and your complexion very well before you take the plunge.
