Bangladesh Tourism Board hosts “Photo Sharing & Review Contest”
Bangladesh Tourism Board, in partnership with TripZip.tours, organised a social media based event titled, "Photo Sharing & Review Contest" for the women travellers in Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Tourism Board has played a pivotal role in establishing Bangladesh as an attractive tourist destination and their partner, TripZip.tours – a young initiative – is set to create an exciting hub for travel experiences, activities, adventures and tours.
The objective of TripZip.tours is to promote adventure and experience based travelling to attract more travellers to Bangladesh. They are eager to serve the youth and the backpacking community through its services.
TripZip.tours also has a mission to make travel more convenient for groups for whom travelling has never been that easy, especially due to socioeconomic constraints. They also want to work with the local guides, people and culture to empower local communities by showcasing the uniqueness of each region.
The event featured chief guest Rashed Khan Menon, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, special guest Christine Hunter, Country Representative, UN Women, special guest, Selima Ahmed, President, Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Khurshed Alam Chowdhury, former Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and Aparup Chowdhury, Chairman, Bangladesh Parjaton Corporation. Monowara Hakim Ali, Board Member of Bangladesh Tourism Board was also present in the ceremony along with distinguished guests.
The event started off with an official welcome to the guests. Armeen Zaman Khan, a young traveller talked about how she was labelled as special for having achieved a rare feat of being a woman who travelled outside of the country alone.
"I am still looking forward to that day when women will not be considered special for travelling but rather be labelled as ordinary," she said. The event featured talks by the guests who stressed on the importance of both travelling and the need for more women travellers. Christine Hunter, Country representative, UN Women shared her views on Women Empowerment in Bangladesh.
The event featured a few video clips on Bangladesh Tourism as well as an award giving ceremony where ten women travellers received a certificate and three of the best women travellers received an award with first prize going to Nishat Nuzhat, second to Fariha Kamal and third to Ifat Younus.
