With a view to make the denizens of Dhaka aware of the history and culture of the city, as well as to preserve the almost lost traditions of the capital, Dhaka Kendra (a project of Maula Buksh Sardar Memorial Trust) had started its journey back in 1997. Recently, the centre added a 'Muntassir Mamoon Corner' and 'Tara Sangskritik Chattar' to celebrate the creative works of celebrated writer and historian Muntassir Mamoon, and late journalist Fouzul Karim, popularly known as Tara. The opening ceremony for these was held on 28 September, 2019, marked by the presence of renowned intellectuals and well-wishers. Dhaka Kendra currently has a library with research facilities, book sales centre, as well as facilities for exhibitions and publications.
