Finger foods for the big match
MUNCHIES
With the series of big games coming up, we need a pile of snacks, if only to keep us from fidgeting over the scores. Instead of loading up on packaged sugary goodies, which we all regret later on, as a sugar rush on top of the match excitement is not really fun, why not try making some easy snacks at home to munch on?
CHEESE BOMBS WITH GARLIC BUTTER
The cheese garlic combination we just cannot seem to get enough of. Get a selection of your favourite cheese, mozzarella or cheddar, or both!
Wrap biscuit dough around the cheese squares, garnish it with garlic herb butter, and send it off to be baked to perfection. As a simple snack to enjoy during the game, these are usually made bite-sized, but if you want larger portions, go all out.
THE PIN WHEELS
Pin wheels make for great appetisers, but are just as great as game-day snack. Very easy to make, it needs few ingredients, like tortillas and a choice of filling. From cheesy spinach to buffalo chicken to pizza pinwheels, there is an option for everyone. Roll up the tortillas with your choice of fillings and leave them in the refrigerator. When you are ready to munch, cut them into wheels and heat them up.
CARROT FRIES
Snacking does not mean we cannot include vegetables. Cut your carrots like you would with French fries and mix in with olive oil, any shredded cheese of your choice, parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper, arrange on baking tray and send it into the oven.
While it bakes, make a nice mixture of Greek yoghurt, garlic powder, parsley, salt and pepper, and red pepper flakes to create a sublime dipping sauce that will make you forget you are chowing down vegetables. This process can be replicated with other vegetables too, like cauliflower.
HAVE A SELECTION OF DIPS
No matter what sort of snacks you are making, a selection of dips should be ready for all bite-sized foods, savoury or sweet. Pizza sauces, cheesy dips, pickled dips and Greek hummus, the options are endless. If making a dip is too much of a hassle, there are multiple options at the grocery store that you can buy and would taste just as great.
Always go with bite-sized proportions because that makes it easy to make, and easy to enjoy without creating a mess, and serve a lot of people too.
Devour these munchies on your couch by yourself or throw a little party to enjoy with a bunch of friends as you share the joys and woes of the game. Even if your team does not win, at least you have good food to console you.
