FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD
Ladies and gentlemen, on your left are cubes of a type of mango whose season is as short as my attention span. This is Haribhanga. A lovely specimen from Chapainababganj, near Rajshahi. Have not come across this anywhere in India yet. Sweet yet not cloying. There is an ambrosial quality to this. A perfume that I do not have the words to describe. And to its right is a delectable yogurt. Almost white, this has a lovely lactic tang. Again, not your usual over the top sweet stuff. No wonder this is actually called Special Doi. Dhaka is full of such surprises. You need to rise above the traffic jams to find these. These are the things, apart from the people, that make Dhaka a special place. #That
Two of the best that Sausly's has to offer — the hunter beef sandwich and the chicken pattice. The sandwich was soft like a good comforter, pun intended. The heady mix of toothsome meat and mayo is just the thing I needed for a late lunch. I always take the top off the pattice, a faster way to get to the creamy chicken filling. Not too spicy; actually a little bland. But the overall effect of buttery puff pastry and soft chicken is very satisfying. #That
