Ayesha Khatun received an unexpected gift -- a pair of hilsas -- from local Awami League lawmaker Sanwar Hossain, second from right, yesterday, a day after The Daily Star published a photo of her on Pahela Baishakh. In her conversation with the photojournalist, the century-old woman had reminisced about the bygone days when a big hilsa would cost Tk 1 or Tk 2 but could not remember the last time she tasted the fish.
