Jaywalking caused around a dozen accidents and at least four deaths at the Basabo end of Khilgaon Flyover in the capital last year alone, according to the locals. To prevent this, locals have recently put up additional barricades on the median strip and hired people with their own money to guard it. Earlier, most people would try to wind their way on the other side of the road through fast-moving traffic, like in the inset photo taken in November last year, though there is a footbridge just metres away.
