Boats gently glide over the Jail Khal yesterday morning, which is getting back its life again due to the laudable efforts of the residents of Barisal city and district administration. In the last seven to eight months, the authorities concerned had demolished over 100 illegal structures on its banks and initiated cleaning campaigns in unison with the residents to restore its navigability. Due to wholesale encroachment, dumping of waste and lack of effective measure, the canal was in death throes. Photos: Star
