Aztar Hossain carrying a passenger on his electric rickshaw on Dhaka University campus yesterday. Aztar was an autorickshaw driver and he lost his legs six years ago in a crash in Tongi. With not-so-great advice from people around him and probably due to the lack of proper rehabilitation programmes, he bought the battery-run rickshaw after recovery. Collectors engaged by locals have been dumping garbage at this spot in Majortila Bazar in Sylhet's Khadimpara union for the last four years, resulting in the near-blocking of Dhopadar Chhara, a canal stretching some 15 kilometres, which washes away the garbage before merging with and further polluting the Surma river.
