A grief-stricken Abdul Aziz barely manages to walk out of his house through a narrow path due to a boundary wall erected by a neighbouring factory owner almost blocking the entrance to his house at Maona in Sreepur of Gazipur. Locals yesterday formed a human chain, not in picture, protesting the act. Aziz, 65, a former dried fish trader, said he had been living there for the last 22 years and using the road, and the wall was built two months ago. However, Khurshed Alam, son of the owner, Haji Nurul Huda, who moved to the area seven years ago, said Aziz was using the road "illegally". Aziz said the factory owner wanted to buy the 5.25 decimals of land where he lived, but refused to sell. Talking to The Daily Star, local union parishad member Mubarak Hossain said the family had been confined due to the wall, and he tried to settle the issue but failed. Locals' support is needed to help Aziz, he added. Photo: Star
