The water of Hatirjheel has become discoloured getting mixed with sewage from different areas in the capital. In the absence of a proper drainage and sewer management system, the contamination is a major headache for the city. It also leads to river pollution as the canal is linked with the Balu, which joins the Shitalakkhya. The photo was taken at Hatirjheel-Rampura on Sunday. Photo: Prabir Das

Buses navigate through a narrow passage in front of Jatiya Press Club on Topkhana Road that is swarmed with demonstrators, including teachers and community health workers, who had been continuing their programmes demanding nationalisation of their jobs. As the vehicles have to move at a snail's pace on this portion of the road, one of the busiest in the capital, the traffic situation in surrounding areas also gets worse. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Prabir Das
