Dhaka North City Corporation recently set up colourful tiles on different pavements. A special feature of these new walkways is a dedicated lane for the visually impaired. But over the last few days, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police erected small concrete pillars on pavements of Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue to prevent bikers from using them. The DMP may have done it to ensure footpaths free of bike nuisance, the pillars are rather creating problems for pedestrians. In this photo taken yesterday, two bikes and a car are seen parked on the pavement close to the pillars blocking the entire pavement. Photo: Amran Hossain
