Mim Mantasha, middle, was crowned the Lux Super Star 2018 during a star studded gala event at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital last night. On her left is first runner-up Sarwat Azad Bristi and on her right is second runner-up Samia Othoi. This was the ninth edition of the talent hunt presented by Channel i. As the winner, Mim received a prize of Tk 5 lakh, a car as well as the chance to become the brand ambassador of Lux. She also landed a lead role in a film to be produced by Impress Telefilm. Singer and journalist, Elita Karim, joined Toru's anniversary celebrations for a "Boithok" session on mentorship and music yesterday. Toru is an institution for future of learning and innovation for inclusive growth in 4th Industrial Revolution, and its principles are rooted in life skills to transform the social mind-set. Elita's stories about her mentors demonstrated the uniqueness of "Guru-Shishya" relationships. Her gurus created a holistic musical education which extended to being disciplined, engaging with everything positive in the surroundings, and expressing those connections.
