The DND canal in Rasulpur area of Narayanganj’s Rupganj is now a narrow stream of polluted water, covered in a thick layer of algae. It was dug up over five decades ago to collect rainwater and avoid flooding in the area. However, owners of surrounding mills not only illegally constructed roads along the canal, but installed sewage pipes that emit factory waste right into the water. The photo was taken on Saturday.
