The BOC Ghat paddy market in Brahmanbaria’s Ashuganj is buzzing with activity as farmers from nearby riverside regions are bringing boatloads of freshly harvested crops for sale. Daily trading volume ranges from 80,000 to 100,000 maunds at this major paddy trade hub on the Meghna. Meanwhile, the increased supply has caused paddy prices to fall by Tk 500 per maund, causing frustration among farmers.
