Curzon Hall: Beyond Dhaka University!

You cannot think of Curzon Hall without imagining Dhaka University, and vice versa. Fair enough, as this splendid work of architecture has been a part of the campus since the very beginning of the university. However, the Curzon Hall story goes beyond the history of the institution of which it is now a part of! 

Dhaka University was established in 1921, whereas the foundation of Curzon Hall was laid in 1904. It has been theorised that the building was originally intended to serve as a town hall but there has been some scepticism about this theory. 

One point which many historians agree upon is that this splendid building was once briefly used by Dhaka College. After Dhaka University was established, they took over.
